Bacon, bacon and more bacon. What’s better than bacon? How about bacon thats candied after its marinated in bourbon, brown sugar and Black Rifle Coffee?
Have I gotten your attention yet? This recipe can be made in your smoker, grill or oven. It’s easy to make and will add extra pop to breakfast combos, BLT’s at lunch or burgers for dinner. Below you’ll find this recipe, feel free to modify however you see fit, take of the bourbon is thats not your cup of coffee.
Bourbon & Coffee Candied Bacon.
Ingredients:
1 cup strong chilled coffee
1/4 cup bourbon or whisky
1 cup brown sugar ( separated in 1/2 cups)
3 Tlbs Pure Maple syrup
2 pounds thick cut bacon ( 24 slices)
Directions:
1. In glass bowl whisk chilled coffee, bourbon, maple syrup and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Whisk until all sugar has dissolved.
2. Add bacon to Coffee mixture and let sit in fridge for 20-30 minutes
3. While bacon is resting preheat smoker or oven to 350 degrees.
4. Drain bacon and discard coffee mixture
5. Add bacon to a parchment paper covered backing sheet, making sure the bacon is not touching each other. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of brown sugar over bacon and place in oven.
6. Cook for 10 minutes, flip bacon and coat once again with remaining brown sugar. Cook additional 10 minutes until bacon is crispy but not burnt.
7. Remove from oven and let rest on parchment covered plate. Bacon will get firm up as it sits.
8. Eat as is, or add to your favorite dish like burgers or BLT’s
(if using a pellet smoker like a Traeger same recipe applies, you may need 5-8 extra minutes on cooking time)
