Today I wanted to try something new, I wanted to try using my Traeger to bake fresh hamburger buns. Well, it worked perfectly and they came out simply incredible. This recipe can be done as easily on the Traeger as it can in your oven. So step up your game and make your own buns. Print and keep the recipe below.
Traeger Baked Hamburger Buns
Ingredients:
3/4 – 1 cup water (100-110 degrees)
2 tablespoons butter, room temp and soft
1 egg + 1 egg yolk
3.5 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 pack yeast (follow directions on package)
Topping:
1 egg white
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions:
- Follow Yeast package proofing. While yeast is proofing mix all dry ingredients in stand mixture or bread maker.
- Add in egg, butter and yeast mixture, mix until a soft smooth dough is formed. If needed add more water 1 tbsp at a time.
- Dump onto lightly floured surface and form a round dough ball.
- Grease large glass bowl, add dough and cover with towel and let rise 2 hours, dough should double in size. (If you’re in a colder region, turn oven on to 250 degrees and place bowl next to oven for warmth)
- Gently deflate the dough, divide into 8 equal pieces, roll pieces into round balls. Place on greased or parchment- lined baking sheet and lightly press down. Cover and let rise another hour.
- Whisk all toppings ad brush each bun, sprinkle with sesame seeds if wanted.
- Place in preheated 375 Traeger for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and cool buns on wire rack.
- ENJOY!
