Honey Whisky BBQ turkey bites
Ingredients:
1 Turkey breast but into 1-inch pieces
2 Tbsp cornstarch
½ tsp sea salt
1 tsp cracked pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
Sauce:
3 cloves garlic, minces and smashed
½ cup apple juice
½ cup whiskey or bourbon
2/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cracked pepper
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp red pepper flakes
Directions:
- In mixing bowl mix together cornstarch, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Add turkey bites and coat, set aside and let them get sticky, tacky.
- Over medium/high heat add oil to hot skillet, add turkey bites to oil, careful not to crowd. Cook until crispy on all sides and internal temp ready 150º-155º
- Remove from oil and set aside
- In a clean skillet add whisky/bourbon and bring to a slight boil, light with flame and allow the alcohol to burn off, leaving behind a reduced amazing liquid.
- To the skillet add your apple juice, mixing with whiskey.
- Add remaining ingredients minus the brown sugar. Whisk and bring to a boil, reduce heat and keep whisking 1-2 minutes.
- Add brown sugar and cook 2-4 minutes until all sugar has melted. This will help sweeten and thicken your sauce. Once the sauce coats the back of your spoon its ready, remove from heat.
- Toss your bites into the sauce, and coat evenly.
