I’ve been reading for a while of those budget moms who spend a couple hours making and freezing 6 crockpot or oven meals for a whole weeks worth of dinners. So I’ve decided that why not do this with wild game? Create recipes that a busy mom or dad can create and freeze, pull out, dump in crockpot or oven and have dinner ready when they get home.
So Sunday After church I planed the meals, made the grocery list and budgeted the cash. I came home from shopping and cooked for 45 mins creating the makings for 6 dinners.
Monday: Turkey & venison potato Casserole
Tuesday: Wild boar carnitas tacos
Wednesday: Mongolian antelope
Thursday: Elk & venison 6 bean chili
Friday: garlic & honey pheasant
Saturday: Elk, venison & turkey cowboy casserole
Each day of the week I will post the new recipe with pictures and how to’s
Enjoy!!!
Day 1: Turkey & venison potato Casserole
32 oz bag tater tots
1 lb ground game meat, browned & seasoned
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 cans green beans (or 2 cups fresh)
1 can cream of Mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
½ chopped onion
1 cup water
3 tablespoons Worcestershire
6 cloves garlic chopped
1 cup cheddar cheese
After browning meat allow to cool, in large gallon size ziplock bag mix all ingredients minus tots and cheese. Freeze for up to 4 months.
When ready to cook pull from freezer day before and let thaw in fridge.
Line the bottom of the crockpot with tots. Pour mixture over top. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Before serving stir in cheddar cheese. I reserved some of the tots and toasted them up to put on top. Super simple and in the words of my daughter “super yummy daddy”
