Wild Turkey “KFC” Bowls

Wild Turkey KFC bowls 

Ingredients: 

Bowls: 

1 cup cooked corn 

1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded 

Nuggets: 

1 pound turkey breast, cubed into 1” squares. 

1 egg 

1 cup dill pickle juice 

1 ½ cup flour 

½ tsp paprika 

1 ½ tsp pepper 

3 tbsp powder sugar 

2 tsp salt 

1 cup milk 

Oil to fry 

Directions: 

  1. Place turkey nuggets in a zipper bag along with pickle juice, place bag in fridge and let marinate for at least 4hrs or up to 12hrs 
  2. Remove from fridge and discard pickle juice 
  3. In large bowl add milk and eggs, whisk until combined, add turkey to mixture and coat
  4. Heat oil to 375º
  5. Mix all dry ingredients, remove turkey from milk & egg mixture.  toss turkey into mixture and coat. Add to oil and fry 3-4 minutes until cooked and crispy. 
  6. Remove from oil and allow to drain 

Mash taters: 

1 ½ pounds Yukon Gold potatoes 

½ cup cream or milk 

4 cloves garlic 

Salt and pepper 

4 tbsp butter 

Directions:

  1. Peel ½ your potatoes and leave half with skin on, unless you don’t care for skin in your potatoes.
  2. Place potatoes and garlic in pot and just cover with salted water, bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium. Cooking until potatoes are fork tender.   
  3. Drain potatoes, and place back in pot. Over medium heat cooking potatoes removing any extra moisture. This is key to great mash. 
  4. Add cream and butter, cook just until butter melts. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper. At this stage you can add anything else your family likes. 

Gravy: 

Ingredients:

½ cup unsalted butter 

½ cup flour 

4 cups turkey or chicken stock 

Pinch of Salt 

½ tsp White pepper 

Pinch of Cayenne 

½ tsp Garlic powder 

Directions: 

  1. In sauce pan melt butter over medium low heat, whisk in flour and cook until roux has turned golden brown and smells kind of nutty. 
  2. Whisk in turkey stock a little at a time, making sure the roux doesn’t clump, if so just whisk them away. 
  3. Add seasonings and cook until gravy is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Keep stirring so not to burn. 
  4. You can add more stock its to thick. 

Building your bowls: 

Plate your mash followed by corn, nuggets, cheese and gravy. This dish is sure to get the crowds talking and the kids coming back for more.
