Spicy Honey Whiskey Dove

Just got back from an Epic 4 days or dove hunting and between our group we shot over 900 dove. This means only one thing, lots of new recipes. This recipe came to my head as I was driving out to the dove fields and heard a radio add for Honey Whiskey. I got thinking about how I could create a beautiful dove dish using homemade BBQ sauce and a simple honey whiskey.

So here is that idea I had driving to the dove fields, coming to life and becoming a reality. Hopefully you try and enjoy. I have a couple more ideas I’ll be working on in the next few weeks.

Spicy Honey Whiskey Dove

Ingredient’s:

10-15 dove, quartered or breasted.

6-8 cloves garlic, whole

3 tbsp cooking oil

4 tbsp salted butter

2 medium jalapenos, sliced.

½ red onion, sliced

1 tbsp honey

1 tbsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

2 tsp cracked pepper

1 tsp chili powder

1 cup honey whiskey, (can sub any whiskey or bourbon)

1 cup BBQ sauce, use your favorite or make your own.

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet over med-high heat add your oil and butter, stir to combine. Add your garlic and red onions, sauté 1-2 minutes.
  2. Next carefully add dove pieces and brown side 3 minutes. Add your jalapenos and flip dove cooking another 3 minutes.
  3. Add whiskey and ignite, be careful not to burn yourself. Cook until flame disappears. Sauté 2 minutes.
  4. Mix in honey and spices, mix to combine.
  5. Add and stir in BBQ sauce. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until sauce begins to thicken.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately over rice or just eat as is. Dip or drizzle with pan sauce and enjoy.
